International History Bee and Bowl Canadian Nationals. I’ve sought to deepen my knowledge through programs like Choate’s philosophy and history course, constantly refining my approach to complex ideas.

A pivotal experience in my life was spending two years in China for middle school. Transitioning from a Canadian IB program to an American-based curriculum there not only broadened my global perspective but also taught me resilience and adaptability. This change shaped my ability to adjust quickly and grow both academically and personally.

On the basketball court, I’ve learned discipline, teamwork, and focus under pressure, serving as both a competitive player and assistant coach. Balancing sports and academics has sharpened my time management skills and made me more determined to excel in all areas of my life.

The International History Bee & Bowl, or IHBB for short, is an annual sensation founded in 2010 and organized by IAC. It attracts thousands of students from over 50 countries who love and enjoy history, geography, and the social sciences. Every year, students worldwide gather to participate in this event, engaging fiercely and passionately in discussions about historical academia, forming unwavering bonds and lifelong friendships in the process.

Let me tell you more about what keeps me interested. As someone who’s discovered their love for this subject and its related fields and have worked on it for several years, I can very clearly say a few things about why history is for everyone. Firstly, history is not just the study of the past but also about application to the present and future. I fervently believe that given how small the span of civilization has been in the history of the universe, we are destined to continue living with a small groove of spacetime. And inside that groove, we are all alike, doing great things but also making the same mistakes. By studying history, we enable ourselves to amass knowledge on these patterns, and expand our horizons far beyond what we once understood we could achieve.

Furthermore, communities such as IHBB are far more than just a competition. It entails unimaginable opportunities, and is just an all around incredibly invigorating and fun experience. I am interested in the fields of public and environmental policy, human geography, law, legislature, the arts, and so much more, all of which can be discovered through this experience. If any of these inspire you, it is a great chance for you to take your first step!

Thank you for your time. Sincerely looking forward to seeing you at IHBB!
